Partners & Senior Management

  • Chu retired in 2010 from Deloitte Malaysia as Executive Director of Reorganization and Insolvency Services Group. Prior to Deloitte, he was with Arthur Andersen London and Price Waterhouse Malaysia.

  • He has over 40 years of experience in corporate turnaround strategy and management, insolvency administrations, debt restructuring and formulation of both formal and informal scheme of arrangements involving private and public listed companies.

  • He was appointed as Special Administrator by Danaharta (Malaysian Asset Management Company) to implement workout proposals for various companies, one involving a public listing takeover by LBS Bina Berhad.

  • Under the property sector, Chu has successfully undertaken revival exercises for many of the mega abandoned housing projects in Penang, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

  • Other than acting as an advisor to clients in financial services industry, Chu has also successfully negotiated and obtained creditors’ approval for a Statement of Proposal for a company under Judicial Management.

  • Member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association Malaysia

  • He retired in 2016 after 29 years at KPMG Malaysia where he was Partner and Head of Restructuring & Insolvency.

  • At KPMG he led numerous insolvency administrations, court appointed liquidator for shareholder disputes, and numerous debt restructuring schemes under Scheme of Arrangement.

  • He also played a key role in various Government of Malaysia restructuring initiatives to revive abandoned housing project and to resolve non-performing loans by financial institutions under Tabung Perumahan Projek Terbengkalai where he acted as financial consultant and Pengurusan Danaharta Malaysia Berhad where he was appointed as Special Administrator and as liquidator for STAR LRT to facilitate the consolidation of the various public transport operators under Kumpulan Prasarana Malaysia Berhad.

  • He is presently the MIA’s representative on the panel of interviewers for liquidator licence’s applications with the Ministry of Finance.

  • He is also presently an independent and non-executive director of Dataland Bhd.

  • He was a past president of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Malaysia in 2017 & 2018.

  • Over 38 years in auditing, tax and insolvency and corporate advisory services experience.

  • Previously a partner of Crowe Horwath Malaysia before setting up his own accounting firm: Wong Ching Yong & Co.

  • He has undertaken judicial management work, receivership assignments, and numerous court appointed liquidation assignments – several of which involve shareholder disputes. He has also acted as an expert witness for shareholder litigation as well as structuring and implementing the Schemes of Arrangements for various property development companies to revive stalled property development projects.

  • Licenced auditor and liquidator, and former council member of Insolvency Practitioners Association of Malaysia.

  • Currently a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Malaysia (IPAM) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

  • More than 30 years of professional services in Insolvency, Internal Audit and Risk Management Statutory Audit and Governance Advisory apart from acting as Company Liquidator.

  • Founder of the audit and assurance services group Bridge Advisory.

  • His clients include public listed companies, government linked corporations, and an International NGO backed by the Swiss Government.

  • Often sought due to his financial and accounting expertise to carry out forensic work, litigation support and acting as an expert witness in court.

  • Special Administrator by Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad.

  • Licensed Company Auditor & Liquidator.

  • Over 35 years of professional experience in auditing, insolvency, debt restructuring and corporate management in the construction, engineering and property development industries.

  • Previously with Ernst & Whinney (now EY) before being appointed as senior manager/director of a property development public listed company in Malaysia and thereafter a director of an infrastructure engineering company in Thailand.

  • Has managed and/or assisted in the operations of our clients under receivership, liquidation and judicial management.

  • He recently successfully completed the winding down of two four-star hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan.

  • Bachelor of Accounting from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

  • Over 35 years of insolvency and corporate advisory services experience.
  • He started his professional career at Kassim Chan & Co (Deloitte Malaysia) in its Insolvency & Corporate Restructuring department.
  • He left Kassim Chan & Co to pursue other opportunities before joining CRS Corporate Services Sdn Bhd in 2010 and became involved in DC Restructuring Solutions PLT when it was formed.
  • He has been involved in various insolvency and corporate restructuring assignments in industries such as property development, transportation, manufacturing and time share schemes.
  • He has a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Canterbury, New Zealand and is a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and Chartered Accountants of Australia & New Zealand (ICAANZ)).
  • He has more than 35 years of experience in consumer and commercial banking before he retired from Standard Chartered Bank as its Head of Islamic Banking. He played a leading role in setting up the bank’s Islamic banking division.

  • He joined CRS Corporate Services Sdn Bhd in 2010 and is now with DC Restructuring Solutions PLT.

  • He leads a team that liaises with the financial institutions and Bank Negara, when necessary, on the assignments we undertake on various issues including redemption amounts, loan settlement and additional top up required under various Schemes of Arrangement.

  • He also leads a team administering land title and strata matters; and consents for sub-sale transactions for the assignments where our partners are the appointed liquidators. In addition, we also act as agent of Jabatan Insolvensi Malaysia to help administer these matters on their behalf for selected companies where the Official Receiver has been appointed as liquidator.
